In occasion of the show by Willy Verginer “Rayuela”, Studio d'Arte Raffaelli and Cellar Contemporary present “Il gioco infinito”, a double limited edition in ceramic, inspired by the homonymous work of the Gardenese artist. The playful subject, presented by the artist himself as an original intuition inspired by the series of work dedicated to Rayuela, meets a new material and comes to life in the hands of Willy Verginer. From the union between the poetics of the artist and the craftsmanship of a workshop in Nove, among the main Italian districts of ceramics, the sculpture "Il gioco infinito" is multiplied in 20 pieces (10 grey and 10 pink). The new limited edition is now available at Studio d'Arte Raffaelli and at Cellar Contemporary, revealing an unprecedented attitude of the artist for the sculptural work.
Rampant monstrosities will welcome you in a gloomy, apparently chaotic and at times even unhealthy atmosphere. Yet, on closer inspection, the whole shapeless mass of disjointed and fragmentary figures preserves an overall harmony, made possible by the artist’s ability to have conceived an entire universe, designed and molded by means of a style that is always coherent.
VISIT THE EXHIBITIONAn iconic group show of American artists, each one coming from a different artistic path, but with two common elements: the use of paper, and the Untitled works.
VISIT THE EXHIBITIONThe photographic series made between 2019 and 2020, "Time" and "Ode to My Grandmother," exhibited for the first time in Italy by Cellar Contemporary, constitute an image-based narrative punctuated by the phases of the artist's life and the people who have been crucially important in her journey: the Ndebele community and her maternal grandmother.
