20 x 30 cm | 7.87 x 11.81 in

Giovanna (Gigi) was born to an Afar mother and an Italian soldier during an ill-fated Vatican scientific / military incursion to the Afar Depression. Giovanna was taken to Mantua, to the palace of the Gonzaga where she was adopted as a curiosity. She was brought up in wealth but feared for adventure. When she met Guy, she was immediately stricken with love and bore him a son, Giuseppe. She was assigned a eunuch, Giacomo to protect her and Giuseppe. However, When Karlheinz and Catharijne executed her abduction, Giacomo reached out to Guy and joined him in his efforts to retrieve Giovanna and Giuseppe from the north. Many songs were written about her.

The artwork is part of the series "La Leggenda di Dolomiti"
