DENIS RIVA A FORTE LARINO

"From Ganzamonio to ARTE FORTE"

Stools, tables, trestles: this is what Denis Riva, known as Deriva, brings to Larino fortress for the exhibition opening Saturday 7 July. The show is part of a bigger event, ARTE FORTE | WAITING FOR THE MOMENT, who takes place in 10 first world war fortresses, all around the Trentino region during the summer.

We had a chance to visit the artist studio in the beautiful medieval city of Follina. In a massive room, part of "Lanificio Paoletti", an historic woolen mill, Denis Riva is waiting for the moment.

"It is a reflection on a very ancient tradition of animal farming Eurasia and, in particular, on that of sheep, which moves on temporal space trajectories totally apart from the usual flow of everyday life thus becoming for antonomasia a metaphor for waiting."

Observes Mariella Rossi, curator of the show, who also adds:

"This state of observation of the natural world is also at the basis of a series of drawings on paper dedicated to lake landscapes and, therefore, to a water that has slowed down its flow."

But now the moment has arrived. In Forte Larino, something is about to happen. Art will dialogue with history, in each place in its own way.
