SHAMANS: COMMUNICATING WITH THE UNSEEN

SHAMANS: COMMUNICATING WITH THE UNSEEN

17.12.2023 - 30.06.2024

In the spaces of Palazzo delle Albere in Trento and the Trentino Ethnographic Museum in San Michele all'Adige, an extraordinary exhibition explores one of the most fascinating themes in human history, analyzing it from different and complementary points of view: shamanism.
This exhibition offers a multidisciplinary journey between anthropology, psychology, archaeology and contemporary art, immersing itself in a world of enigmatic masks, immersive installations, crafts and works of art. It aims to propose an innovative approach, reflecting on the human relationship with what is beyond the human.

Through the creations of twenty-six international artists, contemporary art blends harmoniously with scientific narrative, establishing an indirect dialogue with shamanic artifacts. This fusion re-actualizes the shamanic theme, linking it to contemporary issues, especially those related to the environment.
"Shamans" represents the first joint project of three major museums in Trentino: the MUSE - Museum of Science in Trento, the MART - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto, and the METS - Trentino Ethnographic Museum in San Michele.

The Sergio Poggianella Foundation, a partner in the exhibition, is contributing more than 100 artifacts and artifacts from China, Siberia, and Mongolia.
