What's the impact of cats in today's world? Come and find out at Cellar Contemporary!
In today's world images production isn’t a designated task anymore, and the works of art aren’t untouchable objects to contemplate in museums: everyone can participate in the construction of the collective imagery creation directly and can contribute to the spreading of contents through the act of sharing.
In this context, the image of the cat emerges as an unexpected and manifold common thread. In the post-digital visual culture the image of the cat evolves in two directions: on one hand it keeps inspiring visual artists, on the other hand it colonizes digital media’s space, becoming an overarching icon shared by millions of users. Anyways, cat content works as a social lubricant: it creates immediate closeness, generates interactions and is versatile. The cats, this way involved in our intimacy, stand as mirror and window: they are mirrors for our feelings and windows onto a world beyond the human, that we would like to understand and perhaps to inhabit. Maybe especially for this reason the meow factor lies in its ability to capture attention and to create a multisensory connection; destined to not be a temporary trend, but a key through which to interpret our time.
We are waiting for you at Cellar Contemporary, from the 3rd of October to the 12th of December, to discover the artworks of Francesca Vanoli, Julia Runggaldier, Joe Grillo, Carlo Chiusi in pleasant company!
On the occasion of the inauguration, on Friday 3rd October, from 6pm to 9pm, it will be possible to visit the cat shelter in San Martino street, which, since working in partnership with us, will make possible an encounter with our four-legged friends!
